José Antonio Noriega
ESPN Deportes & ESPN International José Antonio Noriega serves as a Spanish-language soccer commentator for ESPN Deportes and ESPN International.
Noriega uses his vast soccer background to bring depth and insight as a contributor to various company platforms and a regular commentator for the network’s international soccer program, Fuera de Juego.
Prior to joining ESPN, Noriega was a soccer midfielder in Mexico. Noriega played for nearly 20 years as a professional soccer player with various clubs in the Primera Division de Mexico from 1986 – 2004 and also played for the Mexican national soccer team from 1993 – 2002.
Noriega has had a distinguished career with the Mexican league, having won the 1990-91 championship and the Invierno 2000 Championship. In the Copa Libertadores, Noriega was first and second in 2002 and 2003 respectively, scoring 10 goals total – 8 in 2002. He was also runner up in the Apertura in 1992-93 and 2000, and was a finalist in multiple CONCACAF Champions Cups.
A native of Mexico City, Noriega earned a Communications degree from the Universidad Intercontinental.
