Twenty-six teams from 13 states will compete in 13 high school match-ups as part of the annual ESPN High School Football Kickoff, August 26-28. The Kickoff will be shown live from ten states: Alabama, California, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, Nevada, Ohio, South Carolina and Texas and will feature seven teams from the ESPN RISE FAB 50 2010 final ranking, 15 ESPNU 150 ranked players and over 100 Division One recruits. The weekend-long event will air live on ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU and ESPN3.com
The Kickoff will feature the top two final ranked 2010 FAB 50 teams and defending state champions, No. 1 St. Thomas Aquinas (Fla. 5A) and No. 2 South Panola (Miss. 6A). Hoover (Ala.) is a returning kickoff champion and was No. 42 in the FAB 50 2010 final rankings. Other defending state champions include: Bishop Gorman (Nev. 4A), Buford (Ga. 2A), Cathedral (Ind. 4A), Cocoa (Fla. 5A) and Wheaton Warrenville South (Ill. 7A).

This year, there are 15 student-athletes participating in the ESPN High School Football Kickoff that are ranked ESPNU 150 players including: No.1 Mario Edwards (DE, Denton Ryan), No. 2 Eddie Goldman (DT, Collegiate Academy), No. 3 Dorial Green-Beckham (WR, Hillcrest), No.14 Arik Armstead (OT, Pleasant Grove), No. 20 Gunner Kiel (QB, Columbus East), No.37 Issac Gross (DT, South Panola), No. 55 Dillon Lee (OLB, Buford), No. 61 Patrick Destefano (OT, Dorman), No. 74 Vadal Alexander (OG, Buford), No.95 Adolphus Washington (DE, Taft), No.103 Jordan Richmond (LB, Denton Ryan), No.110 Dwayne Stanford (WR, Taft), No.117 Justin Shanks (DT, Prattville), No. 133 Tommy Schutt (DT, Glenbard West) and No. 144 Sheldon Day (DT, Warren Central).
The 2010 ESPN High School Football kickoff featured 16 teams in eight football matchups and included defending Florida 5A champion Plant (Fla.) and defending Texas 5A champion Trinity (Texas).
