X GAMES ON ESPN 3D

ESPN 3D to Televise Eight Hours of X Games 16

ESPN 3D will feature eight hours of X Games 16 action from the Los Angeles Coliseum on Thursday, July 29, from 8-11 p.m., and on Saturday, July 31, from 7 p.m.-midnight. Events to be featured include men’s and women’s Super X racing, Moto X Freestyle, Big Air skateboard competition, Rally Car, Super Rally Car and BMX Big Air. 

ESPN 3D X Games 16 production details:

  • ESPN 3D will utilize 14 native 3D cameras to capture action at the Los Angeles Coliseum;
  • The 3D Mega Mo camera, an ultra slo-mo camera that debuted at the Home Run Derby, will be utilized;
  • Coverage will include the first live use of wireless (RF) 3D cameras, one of which will be an in-car camera used during Rally Car competition;
  • One pole camera will be placed near the skate/BMX mega ramp;
  • ESPN 3D will be hosted by Keir Dillon, a veteran X Games announcer and two-time Winter X Games snowboard superpipe medalist.

 


NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Live from Pocono on ESPN

The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races for 500 miles on Sunday, Aug. 1, at Pocono Raceway in Long Pond, Pa., and ESPN will have a live, flag-to-flag telecast from the 2.5-mile, triangular track. The telecast, presented by Aaron’s, will be preceded by NASCAR Countdown at noon on ESPN2 with the viewing switching to ESPN for the race telecast at 1 p.m. Marty Reid will call the action with analysts Dale Jarrett and Andy Petree. NASCAR Countdown, from the ESPN pit studio, will be hosted by Allen Bestwick with analysis by Rusty Wallace and Brad Daugherty. Following the race, additional reports, analysis and interviews from Pocono will air on SportsCenter.

 


NASCAR Nationwide Series in Prime Time from Iowa on ESPN2

ESPN2 continues its season-long coverage of the NASCAR Nationwide Series with live, prime time racing on Saturday, July 31, from Iowa Speedway in Newton, Iowa. Race coverage on ESPN2 begins at 7 p.m. with NASCAR Countdown with the green flag at 7:44 p.m. Anchor Vince Welch will be joined by analysts Ray Evernham and Ricky Craven.

 


E:60 to air Profile of Rays Pitcher David Price

The next episode of E:60, ESPN’s prime time newsmagazine show, will air Tuesday, July 27 at 7 p.m. The show will feature an in-depth profile of Tampa Bay Rays All-Star pitcher David Price. E:60 also tells the story of junior college football player Andre Lampkin, who is trying to keep his NFL dream alive after a bout with bacterial meningitis almost cost him his hands and feet. Additionally, there will be an update on the story of MMA fighter “Lightning” Lee Murray, who is appealing a prison sentence for his role in a $92 million heist in London.

 


WNBA Teams Vie for Playoff Position in Tuesday Doubleheader on ESPN2

ESPN2’s WNBA schedule will continue with the third and final doubleheader of the season Tuesday, July 27, beginning at 7:30 p.m. when the San Antonio Silver Stars visit the New York Liberty, with each team looking to stay in playoff contention.  The night’s second game has the first-place Seattle Storm hosting the defending champion Phoenix Mercury at 9:30 p.m. (ESPN2 HD WNBA schedule)

 


Ron Artest Raps During ESPNNewYork.com’s Original Web Series The Pretty Good Sports Show

Los Angeles Lakers forward Ron Artest guest stars on this week’s The Pretty Good Sports Show on ESPNNewYork.com.  Artest, born in Queens, N.Y., and a Mets fan, raps a humorous original song created for the show about the Mets entitled “METropoliTONS of FUN,” which is meant to pay tribute to the faltering Mets. The Pretty Good Sports Show hosts Matt Fisher and Adam Lustick report every Wednesday at noon on the latest on the Mets, Yankees and more, specifically geared towards the New York sports fan. Each episode begins by recapping the New York sports scene with major headlines, followed by a sketch segment with the hosts.

Fisher is a member of the comedy groups Sidecar and The Law Firm in New York City.  Lustick is an actor and writer who performs with the sketch group Harvard Sailing Team and the rap duo Snakes.  The show is directed by Craig Rowin, a writer and improv performer with The Upright Citizens Brigade (UCB) Touring Company and The Law Firm.  Rounding out the writing team is Caitlin Tegart, a writer and director with the UCB Touring Company.
