Fernando Palomo

Fernando Palomo uses his vast soccer background to bring depth and insight to his work as the lead soccer play-by-play commentator for ESPN Deportes. He also serves as host of Fuera de Juego, the network’s highest-rated international soccer program.

Palomo joined ESPN in 2000 as a SportsCenter anchor for ESPN in Latin America.   From 2004 to 2006 he served as an anchor for SportsCenter on ESPN Deportes.

Palomo launched his broadcasting career in 1999 with Channel 4 TV in San Salvador, El Salvador, as a sports commentator covering a variety of events including the Olympics and the Pan American Games.  He has covered the Italian League, called more than 10 UEFA Champions League Finals and presently covers the Spanish League. In his native San Salvador, Palomo also showed his journalistic range as a correspondent for Radio Cadena YSU and as a columnist for El Diario De Hoy. 

Outside of his work as a sports broadcaster, Palomo was a member of El Salvador’s National Track and Field team and is the country’s record-holder in the javelin throw.
