Allen Hopkins, who joined ESPN after the 2006 FIFA World Cup from FOX Soccer Channel, serves the network’s lead sideline reporter for Major League Soccer and U.S. Men’s National Team telecasts.

Hopkins will be a reporter for ESPN at the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa.  This will be his third time covering the World Cup, having worked on the 2002 FIFA World Cup in Korea/Japan and the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany.

Hopkins has over eight years of experience as a play-by-play broadcaster, analyst, and reporter for Fox Sports, as well as ESPN. He has called over 2000 soccer games from the best leagues in the world, including the English Premier League, Italian Serie A, German Bundesliga, the Brazilian Championship, French Ligue 1, and the UEFA Cup.

While spending four seasons as the lead analyst and pre-game co-host for the Los Angeles Galaxy, Hopkins was the first reporter to interview David Beckham following his first match for the Los Angeles Galaxy. In 2006, the L.A Daily News named Hopkins one of the top sports broadcasters in LA, for his coverage of the Galaxy.

He also works on ESPN’s coverage of NCAA College Basketball.
