Jay Mariotti
Around the Horn "Pundit"
Jay Mariotti joined ESPN in August 2002 as one of the four featured panelists on Around the Horn, which debuted November 4, 2002. As a key member of the fast-paced, 30-minute program (Monday-Friday 5 p.m. ET), Mariotti debates the day’s hottest sports topics with host Tony Reali and columnists from the Boston Globe, Dallas Morning News, Los Angeles Times and ESPN, with each “pundit” trying to capture points and “win” each show based on clever comments.
Mariotti began working for the Chicago Sun-Times in 1990 and is currently that paper’s top sports columnist, monitoring the pulse of one of the nation's most vibrant sports towns. He also is nationally recognized as a radio talk-show host and television commentator.
Mariotti, who also worked at the Denver Post, has won numerous national, regional and local writing awards, including recognition as one of America's leading columnists by the Associated Press Sports Editors. Mariotti has covered nearly every major sports event in the world in his 19 years as a columnist for major metropolitan newspapers.
A native of Pittsburgh and a graduate of Ohio University, Mariotti also occasionally serves as a guest host on ESPN's Pardon the Interruption.
