Reischa Canidate joined ESPN in February 2008 as an anchor for ESPNEWS, the only all-sports news cable TV network. Currently, her primary assignment is handling the news segments during ESPN2’s morning programming block of Mike & Mike in the Morning (simulcast from ESPN Radio) and First Take. She also serves as a fill-in host on First Take.
Before joining ESPN, she worked as a weekend sports anchor and sports reporter from 2002 to 2007 for WNYW in New York. From 1999 to 2002, she held the same position at KSWB in San Diego. Prior to working at KSWB, Canidate worked at KJEO in Fresno, Calif., where she held the positions of weekend sports anchor and sports reporter (1998-1999) and sports producer (1997-1998).
Canidate was nominated for a 2008 New York Emmy for her series on “Diminishing African Americans in Baseball.”
A native of Fresno, Calif., Canidate attended the University of Southern California where she was graduated in 1997 with a bachelor’s degree in exercise science. She was a high jumper on the USC track & field team and part of the school’s first-ever Pac-10 championship in the sport in 1996.
